Bases in Iraq are predestined to be destroyed at the outbreak of serious conflict & defences are expected to make no difference. The US defence is deliberately flawed, as are some Russian defences. The question remains will the troops be at their bases or largely on a Christmas break? or will somebody have made them busy in another place? The Christmas period is expected to make no difference to bases, unfortunate timing. A Jihad in the quiet period might take troops away when they return. Slight response to the suggestion. Mechanical failure or disaster might also save some of the best.
