Raise the price of OPEC Oil immediately. Collapse existing Arms manufacture for destabilisation of over confident US forecasts. Manufacture broad sweeping Military alternatives, retain or sell existing equipment.
Stop Military purchases in favour of Chinese & give them independent Border protection duty using an Iranian Flag. The US have not prepared for Chinese Strategy. Simply move the Iranian Border inward, like a Lease held by a peace keeping force having more whizz & bang. Equipment contracts enable disguised Troops & importantly unfamiliar Command, don't interfere.
